Action Comics No.1 Review

A long time ago I stopped reading comic books due to lack of funds I vowed that one day I would return to collecting.  With DC comics new 52 no.1's hitting comic book stores worldwide I was very curious as to what would happen to some of my beloved characters and so i started collecting again I am not buying them all just, the ones I that i have fond memories of and i will review them here.  Please note that if you have not read any of the new 52 and you wish to there may or will be SPOILERS ahead read at your own peril.

WARNING SPOILER LAST WARNING

As I held Action comic number one in my hand I was really looking forward to reading it as I am a very big fan of Grant Morrison and was full of ideas as to where the story would start.  Well it started in Metropolis not where i was hoping i would start as an origin story of Superman is Smallville where he grew to be the man everyone knows and loves.  This is not a bad thing I am not complaining, I am sure we will get there soon.

What did have me scratching my head a head a bit is that this Superman is more reckless it shows no training at all I am sure as the story moves on we will learn why he's like this but at the  moment I am not happy with the way this character is portrayed.  I was good to see a weaker Superman as he was hurt during the course of this issue there where signs of bruising and so on which leads to the end of the issue if this Superman knows he is able to be hurt by big heavy objects why did he put himself in front of a train?  We will just have to wait till the next issue.  The writing is good and I am sure it will get better as the story progresses this is after all the first issue.  The art is OK not great well I have seen better the problem I have is that faces and body types change.

Score 4 out of 5
